We love science!
This week we have been reading about Volcanoes in our McGraw-Hill literature book.
On Friday, during science, we created our own volcanoes using vinegar and baking soda.
We placed equal parts of vinegar and water into a clear vase. Then we added the baking soda.
The result was a chemical reaction between the baking soda and vinegar. In this reaction, carbon
dioxide gas is produced when the acid in the vinegar reacts with the Sodium
Bicarbonate in the baking soda.
This is what makes the bubbling eruption.
This is what makes the bubbling eruption.
Our vase volcano bubbled and gushed up and out of the vase. It was fun to create our own representation of what happens in real
volcanoes.
Some students wondered if the pressure of the explosion was strong enough to blow up a balloon. Sure enough, it was.
Keep up the great work all of you
brilliant scientists!
